These festive little kisses and hugs are sure to put you in the holiday spirit. They scream festive and are tasty little morsels. Their perfect for your holiday parties, baking at home with loved ones, or even for Santa! If you like sugar cookies, eggnog, chocolate kisses & hugs, and sprinkles, then these are for you… add them to your Christmas cookie list. Since we’ll be using a cookie mix these cookies are quick to throw together, and do not skimp on flavor.
These cookies are also known as blossoms, with can be customized to suit your craving and taste bud needs. I’ve seen a lot online with just a sugar cookie base, I’ve made them before with a peanut butter cookie and milk chocolate kisses (delish!), so this makes for one very customizable cookie!
For these holiday edition cookies I used milk chocolate with almond kisses (my favorite), HUGS, (the brown and white striped) and the very festive candy cane kisses.
All you need is a bag of sugar cookie mix and it’s required ingredients ( 1 softened stick of butter and 1 large egg), a little bit of eggnog, a dash of nutmeg, lots of sprinkles … and don’t forget your hugs and kisses.
Preheat your oven, mix your cookie mix, butter, and egg together (directions are on the back of cookie mix).
Once everything is mixed together you can add your eggnog ↓
Once you’ve combined the eggnog and sugar cookie dough thoroughly , add in your nutmeg ↓
After you’ve mixed all your ingredients together, scoop little balls of dough ( 1 inch dough balls) onto a plate and stick them in your freezer for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes they won’t be completely frozen but will be firm enough to work with. In a separate shallow bowl or plate, pour out your sprinkles of choice. In this case, I used a holiday mix of nonpareils but any kind you choose will do the job. Take a dough ball and roll in around in your hands for a few seconds so it gets a more defined round shape. Then simply roll the dough ball around in the sprinkles, which will stick perfectly. Place the sprinkled cookie dough ball onto your baking sheet and repeat until your cookie sheet is full!
As you can see, I go overboard with sprinkles, it’s just my style. Your can definitely use less if desired.
These kisses (& hugs) only take 9 minutes in the oven, super quick right?! Make sure to pull them out after 9 minutes so they stay soft and chewy.
Once their out of the oven, allow them to cool of about 5 minutes, transfer them from the cookie sheet to a plate, insert your kisses (& hugs) into the center of the cookie and return them to the freezer for 5 more minutes until they’ve set. After that you can enjoy or store them in air tight container. They’ll stay soft, chewy, and delicious for several days.
