How are your New Resolution’s coming along? Being rather typical this year, I’ve opted for the healthy resolution, and so far it’s coming along quite nicely. It’s never too early, or too late, to start being healthy. For me personally, I just wanted to get into the habit of things; exercising regularly, cooking at home more, eating sweets in moderation as opposed to my heart’s content. In my opinion, living healthy is all about moderation instead of deprivation. I’m sorry but I am just not the type of girl to trade a few chocolate chip cookies for a pair of skinny jeans. Anyways…
Sometimes being busy can mess with your healthy routine, I know that’s my common setback. One thing that I’m making a change of is finding quicker, simpler, and healthier meals that are just as delicious and satisfying as the drive thru.
Smoothies are a great way to get in some nutrition during a busy day. I prefer them as breakfast or a post workout treat. This particular smoothie is a doosy. Only 5 ingredients and 5 minutes to make….quick enough right?!
Almond milk, greek yogurt, a banana, some strawberries, and some tablespoons of chia seeds is all you need.
I prefer to use frozen fruit in my smoothies because they’ll keep your smoothie cold. You may you fresh fruit and ice cubes if you wish, it won’t make any difference. Just gather all your ingredients together and toss them in your blender. Blend for a minute or so until everything is smooth and creamy.
I love this smoothie because not only is it tasty but I feel like I’m getting so much out of it as well. I get a serving of fruit from the strawberries and banana, some calcium and protein for the Greek yogurt and the Chia seeds also have their own benefits as well…including stabilizing blood sugar, aiding in lowering cholesterol, and providing you with lots of energy!
This recipe either make 1 big smoothie or 2 smaller ones, so you can either have a generous helping for yourself, or share it with someone
I have some other smoothie combinations in the works so stay tuned for those as well!
