Have you guys ever had an over-the-top, specialty milkshake? I’m not really sure what else to call them but I’m talking about the milkshakes you see all over social media and the internet where they have crazy flavors and sweets mixed into the shakes, the glass in usually covered in chocolate or candy and it’s overflowing with ever more sweet stuff like donuts, cupcakes, etc. Well I’ve been intrigued by such creations and starting yelping local places around me that do crazy, over-the-top awesome milkshakes. Luckily I have found several places around me that offer such sinful creations. The flavor that caught my eye the most was none other than Hostess Cupcake. I love a good, cold, thick & creamy chocolate milkshake. It’s so simple and so wonderful you just can’t beat it. But a hostess cupcake thrown in??!! Oh my word I just had to have one and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Luckily these over the top shakes are just as easy to make at home. This particular one, Chocolate Hostess Cupcake, is SO easy to make, which may or not be a good thing depending what’s going on in your life. 😉 This milkshake is made with 4, yes 1-2-3-4 of the easiest ingredients ever. All you need is chocolate ice cream (just simple chocolate nothing crazy), milk, and 2 hostess cupcakes. Why two? We throw one cupcake into the milkshake to create the yummiest, most flavorful and awesome texture evvvveeeerrrrr. And the second one is to garnish your drinking glass and eat once the shake is done. It isn’t a crazy, intense milkshake without the edible bells & whistles so whip cream and sprinkles are always optional but highly recommended.
You can’t really see it from my pictures but this milkshake is smooth and creamy but also has lots of little chocolate cupcake specks throughout the entire milkshake and included in every sip. The greatest milkshake texture ever if you ask me. Smooth, thick & creamy but with little pieces of cupcake that just makes each sip so delightful. It’s the kinda moment where you take your first sip and your eyes get all wide and you make some kind of “oh my gosh this is so freakin good”, kinda moment.
Enjoy my friends!

Chocolate Hostess Cupcake Milkshake
Ingredients
- 2 cups chocolate ice cream
- 1/2 cup milk I used 2%
- 2 hostess cupcakes divided
- whipped cream & sprinkles optional
Instructions
- In a blender combine ice cream, milk and one hostess cupcake. Blend together until combined. You may want to add more milk for desired consistency, this makes a thick milkshake. Pour into a tall drinking glass, top with whipped cream and sprinkles. Push a second hostess cupcake onto the rim of the glass so it sticks to the glass. Enjoy!
