Who here loves hot fudge on their ice cream? I know I do. For years I always used the store bought stuff but let me tell you – homemade hot fudge might be one of the most decadent ways there is to treat yourself when you’re in the mood for ice cream. Overwhelming easy, a few {special} ingredients and about 5 minutes (seriously!) is all it takes to make delicious hot fudge. Today’s recipe isn’t just about your everyday, typical hot fudge, oh no. This recipe for Espresso Hot Fudge is extra thick, has incredible rich flavor and I guarantee you’ll never go back to the store bought stuff again.

So, about a week or so ago I announced on instagram that I was asked to partner with Nestle Toll House and their incredible community of bakers called the Toll House Tribe. I can’t even describe how exciting this is for me! Nestle was kind of enough to send me a big box of their chocolate chips and asked me to get creative and share some awesome recipes with you. Literally a dream come true! My toll house package included the usual semi sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate, butterscotch, etc but there were also unique flavors like Unicorn morsels, Sea Salt Caramel Baking Truffles and Espresso. The espresso morsels really stood out to me. You guys know I love adding espresso powder into my chocolate recipes so naturally I was super pumped for these.

espresso hot fudge breakdown 101

So are you ready to make the most delicious espresso hot fudge of your life?! This stuff is thick, fudgy, rich, decadent, you name it! It’s everything a homemade hot fudge sauce should be. Let’s break this down.

Ingredients: The ingredients are few and simple. First things first, you need Nestle Toll House Espresso Morsels. Even though these are a newer product, I see them available everywhere; target, walmart, publix, etc. You’ll also need some sugar, a little vanilla extract, a can of sweetened condensed milk and a few tablespoons of butter.

Hot fudge can be made quickly on the stove top. All you need to do is heat up a medium sized saucepan on low-medium heat, and add in the sweetened condensed milk and the espresso chips. Let that sit on the heat for about 5 minutes, add in the sugar and vanilla extract and then start stirring the two ingredients together. Hot fudge will start to form right before your eyes like magic! Take the saucepan off the heat in toss in the butter and continue to stir the fudge sauce together. It’ll thicken up beautifully and the butter will add a beautiful shine to the sauce. You can literally pour it straight from the pan and on to your ice cream if you want too!

Ingredients

  • 1 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup Nestle Toll House Espresso Morsels
  • 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of sugar depending on how sweet you like it
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  • Heat a medium sized sauce pan on low-medium heat. After the pan is warm, add in the sweetened condensed milk and espresso chips. Leave the sweetened condensed milk and morsels undisturbed for about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, add in the sugar and vanilla extract, and start to stir the ingredients together. As the ingredients combine the fudge sauce will start to form and thicken. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add in the butter, stirring into the butter melts into the sauce. Serve immediately or store in a airtight container and keep in the refrigerator.
