CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT CAKE TRUFFLES
These Chocolate Hazelnuts Cake Truffles are a delicious, indulgent treat that take cake truffles to a whole new level.
- standard chocolate cake mix ingredients – unsalted butter – powdered sugar – nutella or hazelnut spread – dark chocolate – hazelnuts
Preheat your oven according to package instructions on the boxed cake mix. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish, set aside. Prepare the cake batter as indicated on the box, pour batter into the baking dish and bake for the indicated time.
Preheat the oven to 275 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet, add the raw hazelnuts to the baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Allow the hazelnut to cool.
In a large bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (or use a large mixing bowl with a handheld mixer) add butter and powdered sugar to the bowl. Cream the two together on medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes.
Once the cake is completely cooled it's time to make the truffles. Dump the cake into a big mixing bowl. Use a spoon or a fork to break down the cake into crumbs. Add half the buttercream to the cake crumbs and starting mixing them together. You can do this using a spoon or even your hands.
