CLASSIC CHRISTMAS SUGAR COOKIES

No cookie screams the holidays quite like these Classic Christmas Sugar Cookies. Soft, thick and fluffy, with a delicious buttery flavor.

– all purpose flour – baking powder – salt – unsalted butter – granulated sugar – eggs – vanilla extract – almond extract – powdered sugar – meringue powder – water  – food coloring of your choice

Ingredients

Step 1

Before you get started, place the butter on the counter to come to room temperature (roughly 30 to 45 minutes).

In a large mixing bowl combine all purpose flour, baking powder and salt. Give the ingredients a quick whisk to mix them together. Set the dry ingredients aside.

Step 2

In a separate large bowl add the butter and sugar together and use an electric hand mixer set on medium speed to cream the butter and sugar together, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add in the eggs, vanilla and almond extract, continue beating the mixture together.

Step 3

Slowly add in the dry ingredients, mixing on low speed just until combined. Do not over mix the dough. Cookie dough will be sticky and soft. Transfer cookie dough onto a large piece of plastic wrap, covering it completely. Stick cookie dough in the fridge to chill for a minimum of 1 hour or up to overnight.
